3.2 Professional Ethics

  1. All employees of Blue Ridge Community College are expected to maintain a level of personal and professional behavior consistent with their position in the College and community.
  2. Employees are expected to maintain a professional and courteous attitude toward their colleagues and to support programs and efforts of Blue Ridge Community College. Confidential professional information shall be treated with the greatest of care, especially information concerning other employees and students.
  3. As a member of the community, an employee has the rights and obligations of any citizen. The urgency of these obligations is measured in the light of responsibilities to subjects, students, profession, and to institution. When speaking or acting as a private citizen, the employee shall avoid creating the impression that the employee speaks or acts for the College. As a citizen engaged in a profession that depends upon freedom for its health and integrity, an employee has a particular obligation to promote conditions of free inquiry and to promote further public understanding of academic freedom.
