- All staff and faculty are employed by the President as delegated by the Board of Trustees, subject to standards established by the State Board of Community Colleges.
- The General Statutes of North Carolina do not permit local boards of trustees to establish a tenure policy for community college employees without the specific authority of the North Carolina General Assembly. Since a tenure policy is not authorized, full-time employees are hired on an at-will basis unless otherwise determined by the President or Trustees.
- July 1, the beginning of the fiscal year, represents the beginning of the College's annual employment cycle. Salaries are determined as soon as budget allocations are received from the State Board of Community Colleges. All job offers and ongoing employment are dependent upon the allocation of funds to the College.
